Frequently Asked Questions

  • Are you holding a big Walk My Way event like in other years?
    • Yes!

Every year we host a BIG Walk My Way event, rotating it through Adelaide, Melbourne and Brisbane.

In 2024 we’re holding Walk My Way Ukraine in Brisbane on Saturday 11 May. You might like to join us!

We look forward to being back in Adelaide for a BIG Walk My Way event in 2025.

  • Where can I Walk My Way?
    • Wherever and wherever it suits you!

      • If you want to organise a Walk at your school, church or with friends, click here.
      • If you want to do a Walk by yourself, click here.

You may also like to check out the Walks page here which lists all Walks happening around the country. If there’s one near you, feel free to contact the organiser listed on the page to see if you can join!

  • Can I run instead of walk?
    • Of course! You can run, wheel, cycle, roll, swim, kayak, hike, ice–skate... (we think you get the idea)

  • Run?? I can hardly walk!
    • That’s OK! There are lots of different ways you can still take part.

You can do a shorter Walk. Or you may like to spread a long walk across a number of days, say 5km a day.

You may like to Wheel My Way with a pram or wheelchair. Or take your furry best friend for a walk in a Woof My Way. Register here.

If you’re not up to walking at all, you may like to set yourself another challenge – play a game, knit some blankets, read 26 books in 26 weeks (or days??). You can register for your own challenge here.

If a challenge isn’t really your thing, there are so many other ways to participate. Sponsor a walker, sponsor a team or simply donate. Volunteer at a Walk near you. Pray. Please get in touch to find out how you can help!

  • How much does it cost?
    • Standard registration is $52 for an Adult, $26 for a Child, and $104 for a Family (up to 4 kids). And the best news is that your registration fee kicks off your help and is automatically added to your fundraising tally!

As a BONUS, our good friends at the LLL (Lutheran Laypeople’s League) encourage you to fundraise to help more children go to school, by giving you a Walk T–shirt.

  • How do I share my fundraising page?
    • When you view your page, you will see a ‘Share’ button alongside the usual ‘Donate’ button.

When you click on ‘Share’, you will see various options to share via Facebook, SMS, Email or to copy the link.

  • Are donations tax-deductible?
    • Yes! Donations over $2 are tax–deductible. Your friends and family can donate any amount they like to support you.

Your family and friends can find you or your team here. You can also share the link to your personal fundraising page on Facebook or by email.

  • What do I do with cash donations from family and friends?
    • Follow these easy steps:

      1. Deposit the funds into the ALWS account, details as follows:

      • Commonwealth Bank, Account name: ALWS Overseas Aid Fund
      • Account number: 0093 0721
      • BSB: 062 500
      • Reference: Your full name + postcode + WMW (if space allows!)

      2. Send an email to alws@alws.org.au with the following details:

      • Your name
      • The amount deposited
      • The date deposited
      • The full names, addresses, email addresses and amount donated of any of your supporters who require a tax receipt and/or who wish to be acknowledged on your fundraising page (note that we can’t issue receipts to ‘Nan’ or ‘Aunt Mary’ - full names are required!) It may be easiest to download this sheet and use it when collecting cash donations - then you can just attach it to your email to ALWS when you pay in the funds.

      3. We’ll take care of the rest! We’ll send out receipts to your supporters who need them, and add their names to your fundraising page so their donation is added to your total. Hooray!
